Adventures in Florida land

On Sunday October 8th after church we hooked up the RV and on to our next adventure Cedar Key which is located on the gulf coast in the big bend area. Above are the first 2 sunsets that we had. Our campsite is right on the water.

October 11th - Left Cedar Key and we are now in Sebastian, FL for a week of rest, surf, restoration. We're 20 miles from Carrie's nephew (who is like a son!) and his family and plan to enjoy some time with them as well. Got news that our next project after this mini-vacation will be Lake Okeechobee, FL at the Real Life Children's Ranch. Bob will do some renovations/repairs, and Carrie will help out in the kitchen. We don't know how long we'll be there, but will stay as long as they need us.

October 17th - After fun with Sean and his family, a quick trip up to Charleston to pick up the car, and lots of sun, it's time to hit the road again! We'll be leaving tomorrow for Okeechobee and will have more news and pictures later.

October 22nd - Before we tell you about the ranch, below are pictures of why we love being near Ft. Pierce! We get to spoil them and then give them back!

Bob is working with John, a retired cabinet maker and they are busy building lots and lots of shelves and cases for the food storage rooms and tool rooms and, well, if there is a space they are putting shelving units there.

Now we are entering December.  Thanksgiving was a hoot, with 30+ kids, house parents, staff and ministry workers.  There were approximately 6 turkeys, not to mention a dozen or so pies - enough food to feed everyone.  With so many kids of all ages, you can well imagine dinner was not a quiet event.  After dinner while cleaning up, somehow, the girls, the Moms and I got into singing everything from "Father Abraham" to "My Guy."  It wasn't all hymns, I can tell ya that!  :)

We're making plans to leave Okeechobee soon.  With Christmas coming and Bob's RV school starting early January, it's time to head over to the Gulf Coast, where we'll be staying a while.  Bob will stay until mid-March and I'll stay through February and will be back in Charleston in March to teach.  We may not have much news to report, so until we're back again, be blessed and have a wonderful Christmas season!

JANUARY, 2007

We haven't made any entries in awhile, so we'll see if we can't catch up here.  We made a trip up to Lazy Days RVs right near Tampa - we were just looking for something to do and we love looking at RVs!  To make a long story short, we ended up trading in our Fleetwood.  There were problems with the rig that we had hoped Bob would be able to address after his RV schooling, but Lazy Days made us such a wonderful offer that we decided to trade.  We love our new home and now see distinct differences between manufacturers. We're now in Bradenton, FL, where Bob will be attending RV school.  Getting here a week early gave us some well-deserved R&R, and we took advantage of it.  We've visited museums, aquariums, an orchid show, the mall, the beaches and our heated pool.  Below are some pictures of Tarpon Springs, which is famous for sponge diving, and the 50th annual Sarasota Orchid Show.  We've also included our new rig at its 3-month Bradenton home.  Our next project starts May 1st in Damariscotta, Maine, so we'll be posting to this site before then.  Our plan is to visit some interesting spots on our way up North and to spend a little time with my oldest daughter, LeAnn and her family.  LeAnn and James are expecting their 3d child in April.  Please pray for us in our continued desire to serve God in this ministry.  We've aligned ourselves with a mid-size Assembly of God here in Bradenton and look forward to some wonderful fellowship and growth in God's Word.  These past six months have been wonderful, but we've had many challenges and obstacles to overcome.  Having walked away from two great-paying jobs of a lifetime, and having sold our home when it wasn't even for sale, we have seen first-hand how God provides for us in every way.  If you have not already trusted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, please think about giving God the opportunity to provide for you and to minister His love to you.  If you don't understand what we're talking about, please let us know and we'll explain it to you.  God wants us to depend on Him!  Thanks for reading our site, and blessings to each of you.  More later!  :)
