And they said..."You can't get there from here!" We arrived in Damariscotta Maine May 1st to begin work on the Lincoln County Assembly of God church.
Taste of the Lord for He is good! How much more can He give us? We are here with 3 other RV ministry couples and we're all camped out in the church parking lot. Close quarters, but nothing like being in a campground. Here, we are all in one mindset for service to God, and we are enjoying the similarities and differences God has placed in us. Life doesn't get much better than this!
Mother's Day - I had the privilege of spending a day with my oldest daughter, LeAnn, and her 3 children. We met in Portland at the Maine Mall and had plenty of time to walk, talk, eat and shop. This time in New England is, no doubt, a time of restoration for us, and I know LeA and I will have several more encounters that will serve to bind us closer. The only thing missing is Sarah, my youngest, but Bob and I will see her in a few weeks when we fly to St. Louis for a real estate educators convention. This church has about 80 members, and every single person we've met has treated us with such love and honor. It's amazing to realize we haven't known them all our lives!
Blessings to each reader of this site!
We left New England Weds., August 8th, in the middle of a huge rain storm at 6:38 AM and didn't get clear weather until half-way through CT. This 7 1/2 hour trip took us 10 hours because we had to get off of the Garden State Parkway because of bridge repairs. We drove 22 miles and hit at least 50 red lights about every 2-3 blocks. It took us about an hour to get through those 22 miles! We also were delayed going through NY City over the Geo. Washington Bridge, which is something Bob wanted to experience, and was quick to say he'll never do that again - been there - done that - and has the headache to prove it!
Arrived at the campsite to find our site only had 30 amps, and little did we know that the NJ Shore was experiencing what they call a "brown-out," meaning the electric company cut the wattage going to properties. We were not able to run our air conditioning on the hottest day of the season, 100 plus degrees! Our slides could not go out all the way because there wasn't enough energy, the overhead cabinet that houses all our videos got broken and videos were everywhere, our kitchen table endured injuries from banging against a bike because the bike rack broke; Bob fell down the interior stairs and almost had heat stroke from working on the rig outside. Finally, workers from the campground helped him jury-rig an extension chord to another site and we were able to sleep in air conditioning. This morning we packed up again and moved to another site.
We'll be here through Sunday, August 12th, because it really is a beautiful area. We hit the beach today and tomorrow we'll experience Atlantic City.
Atlantic city was well Atlantic City. We left headed for the coast of North Carolina. We arrived in Avon, North Carolina and had the great experience of our friends Bill and Letty Parrish bringing their 5th wheel to the same camp ground and they camped next to us for a week. We had a great time playing, eating and fellowshipping together. Carrie learned to kayak in the sound and I am sure we will be adding another kayak to our toys. After one week Bill and Letty had to leave and we moved 12 miles north to Camp Hatteras for another great week before packing up and going back to Charleston where we arrived 1st September 2007. We will be in Charleston for about a month so Carrie can teach and we can tie up some loose ends after our first full year on the road. Bought Carrie a blue sit on top kayak.
Our friend, Pastor Tom from Damariscotta, came down on 17th. September for a quick visit. We sent him back to Maine with lots of stuff; always great to see him. We will be leaving to go to Convention the last of September, where we will have an open mind to listen. Then we will spend a week with Sarah and will host an international dinner at our campsite. God is good and this is the End of this section.
