As was the case last year, the 2007 convention was a time to see old friends from past projects and make new friends. We felt a stirring and a nudge to learn more about the caravan that goes to Alaska each summer to repair and rebuild churches. We went to the meeting and were sold on the idea. If God’s plans for us include Alaska, that is where we will be for the summer of 2008; otherwise, we will be working on projects in the lower 48.

As diesel fuel prices rise and the economy slows, we received a phone call from Sarah, giving us the great news that she is engaged and will be married in August, 2008.  Carrie and I will be in Illinois part of late July and August to help. So we leave Florida and the first stop will be Valdosta, GA where we will be helping on a MAPS project at The Rock Assembly of God Church.

Arrived at Valdosta, staying at the River Park RV Park.  I started right in placing tile and hanging lights with joy.  There is such a great satisfaction in working on MAPS projects— it just overwhelms me sometimes. Will do our best for the period that we are here.  Next destination will be Illinois to see our daughter, Sarah, and then to Springfield, MO to help on the next project.  What a great life style!

Traveling, 2008

Went Kayaking with our MAPS RV friends, Ed and Barbara, at Bunch lake near Valdosta Georgia. Carrie, this followed me home— can I have it?  :)

We finished the Church on the Rock project at Valdosta, GA and made our way to Lake Murphysboro, Illinois where we stayed 2 weeks to be with our daughter, Sarah, who is now engaged to be married. We stayed at a state campground right on Lake Murphysboro that was very nice.
